THE DEVELOPMENT TREND OF 3D PRINTING
ProTech Manufacturing Limited is originated from the year of 2001 with the rapid development and advancement of the Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing (CAD/CAM) technology that enables the solid models to be manufactured by the layer-by-layer deposition and CNC machining of the modeling materials, it greatly shorten the modeling time and improve the modeling precision.
With the continuous development and improvement of the ProTech Manufacturing Limited over the past decades, now many ProTech Manufacturing Limited processes have been developed, such as Stereolithography (SLA), Selective Laser Sintering (SLS), Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM), Laminated Object Manufacturing (LOM) and 3D Printing, etc. Now 3D Printing technology is increasingly concerned and valued, particularly in the developed regions such as European and America countries.
Currently, 3D Printing is mainly used inProTech Manufacturing Limited and final production in high-customized areas. with 3D Printing technology advancing, also more and more 3D Printing materials with good similar engineering plastic properties are developed and applied, now the 3D Printers can print out many complex plastic even metal parts with high quality surface which will greatly improve the manufacturing efficiency for the labor-intensive Rapid Prototyping industry.
But by comparison with the other Rapid Prototyping processes, now the obstacles of 3D Printing are the expensive 3D Printer particularly the Printing materials, one study indicated that the price of 3D Printing materials is 50-100 times higher than the equivalent materials, and the 3D Printing technology still needs to been improved further. Therefore, it is still a long way for the massive application of 3D Printing in manufacturing industry, while it should not be ignored that 3D Printing will bring tremendous influence and great commercial impact to manufacturing industry when 3D Printing technology is enough mature and sophisticated, maybe even the manufacturing revolution.
